Dr. Reuben Kraft joined the faculty of The Pennsylvania State University in 2013 following four years at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory and one year at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. While at the Army Research Laboratory, he led efforts to create a Computational Injury Biomechanics Group and led research on several projects within this area. For his efforts in computational biomechanics, Dr. Kraft was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) in 2011. From 2012-2013, Dr. Kraft served as the “Lead Researcher of Computational Biomechanics” at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). At Penn State, Dr. Kraft is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. He is also a co-hire of the Institute of Cyberscience and is affiliated with the Penn State Institute of the Neurosciences and Center for Neural Engineering. Dr. Kraft’s primary research interests are in computational brain injury biomechanics, high rate mechanics, and humans in extreme environments. Dr. Kraft earned his doctoral degree from The Johns Hopkins University in 2008.
